David Bates, PhD

Chief Executive Officer & Co-Founder
David is the CEO and co-founder of Linus Health. He is a scientist, engineer, inventor, entrepreneur and investor. David was a founding partner of Tamarisc Ventures and he co-founded Bode, a tech-enabled hospitality company for group travel. He is on the board of several technology companies, as well as the philanthropic TMCity Foundation. David has previously held positions at Morningside Ventures, F-Wave, Harvard Medical School, Massachusetts General Hospital, University of Louisville, and Georgia Tech. David earned his PhD in Chemical and Materials Engineering from the University of Auckland and earned his BS and MSc in Applied Biology from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He resides in Boston with his wife and kids.

Alvaro Pascual-Leone, MD, PhD

Chief Medical Officer & Co-Founder
Alvaro is a co-founder and Chief Medical Officer of Linus Health. He is also a Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School, a Senior Scientist at the Hinda and Arthur Marcus Institute for Aging Research, and the Medical Director of the Deanna and Sidney Wolk Center for Memory Health at Hebrew SeniorLife (HSL) in Boston, MA.A major focus of Alvaro’s scientific work is to characterize and promote brain health across the lifespan, prevent age-related cognitive decline, and minimize disability in patients with neuropsychiatric disorders while gaining fundamental insights into human brain function. He is considered a pioneer in non-invasive brain stimulation and has published more than 800 scientific peer-reviewed papers. Alvaro remains a practicing cognitive neurologist and dementia specialist with a focus on comprehensive, patient-centered, personalized care.He obtained an MD and PhD in Neurophysiology at the University of Freiburg i.Br., Germany. He completed his residency in Neurology and a fellowship in Clinical Neurophysiology at the University of Minnesota. Alvaro trained in Human Cortical Neurophysiology and Motor Control at the National Institutes of Health and was a Scientist at the Spanish Research Council’s Cajal Institute. Alvaro has been honored with many international awards and is an elected member of the Spanish Royal Academy of Pharmacy.

John Showalter, MD

Chief Strategy Officer
John Showalter is the Chief Product Officer and Chief Strategy Officer at Linus Health, where he is responsible for the integrated strategy for the product, medical, and analytics teams. Before joining Linus, John led product strategy and the product, medical, and analytics teams as the Chief Product Officer at Jvion, the industry leader in clinical artificial intelligence. John joined the founders to grow the product line from two to 35 products, including the COVID-19 response suite, which was recognized as a Fast Company World Changing Idea and earned him acclaim from Modern Healthcare as a Top 25 Innovator in Population Health. Earlier in his career, John served as the Chief Medical Informatics Officer and Chief Health Information Officer for the University of Mississippi Health System, where he also practiced as a primary care physician. John earned his BS in biomedical engineering from Columbia University and his MD from Penn State University College of Medicine. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine and the first ABIM fellowship in Clinical Informatics at Penn State Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, PA. John recently returned to his hometown, Danville, PA, where he lives with his wife and their four youngest of five children.

Leah Ray

Chief Customer Officer
Leah Ray is the Chief Customer Officer at Linus Health, where she is responsible for all post-sales activities including Implementation, Customer Success, Customer Support, and Product Operations. Leah brings over 25 years of customer-facing experience in the Healthcare IT products and services industry. Prior to joining Linus Health, Leah served as Chief Customer Officer at Jvion, the industry leader in clinical artificial intelligence. Before Jvion, Leah held the position of SVP Customer Experience at Zelis and Chief Customer Experience officer at Healthx. During Leah's robust career she has held senior executive leadership roles within customer experience, product management, and data Integration at a host of healthcare Saas organizations. Nominated as a top 100 Customer Success Strategist in 2022, Leah attended Kennesaw State University, holds certifications in Product Management and Project Management and has a Professional Academy for Health Care Management designation.

Curt Thornton

Chief Growth Officer
Curt Thornton is the Chief Growth Officer at Linus Health, where he oversees the sales team and drives market adoption of the company's digital cognitive assessment solutions. Curt is a proven leader who has spent his career working with organizations focused on improving the global delivery of healthcare—from medical device and software products to acute care diagnostic services. Curt most recently served as the Chief Commercial Officer of AnatomyIT, a leader in IT delivery for small to mid-sized healthcare organizations where he was responsible for Sales, Account Management, Marketing, and Business Development. Prior to AnatomyIT, Curt held leadership positions at Jvion, Medicom Health, Healthx, Capsule Tech, and other HIT organizations. Curt holds a Master of Business Administration and Master of Health Science from the University of Florida.

Kirk Elder

Chief Technology Officer
Kirk Elder is the Chief Technology Officer for Linus Health, where he aligns the company in driving towards long-term corporate, market, and product strategies. Kirk Elder has made a career out of growing and advising successful healthcare startups through both entrepreneurial phases, scaling phases, and strategic acquisitions. He was formerly the Global Innovation Leader for Philips Population Health Management, and before that the Chief Technology Officer of Wellcentive, one of the first successful “big data” analytics and care management platforms. Kirk has also held various fractional executive roles and advisory positions at a variety of startups in AI and Analytics, Digital Health, Value Based Care, Telehealth, Remote Patient Monitoring, and Patient Engagement spaces. Kirk has a degree in Physics from Georgia Tech, and currently lives in Western North Carolina with his family. He dedicates this phase of his career to his mother, Mary Elder, who is currently battling the latter stages of Alzheimer’s Disease.

Seng Oon Toh, PhD

Chief Officer, Special Projects
Seng Oon Toh is a co-founder and Chief of Special Projects at Linus Health, where he leads strategic initiatives to expand the reach and scope of the company. He is also co-founder and CTO at Huckleberry Labs supporting family wellbeing and also Venture Partner at Tamarisc Ventures investing in early stage digital health and prop tech startups. He previously worked as an engineer and design lead at ARM, where he focused on low power optimization and next generation IoT technologies. There, Seng designed the lowest energy ARM processor in the world, able to last for a decade off a coin-cell battery. Earlier in his career, Seng was a senior engineer at AMD, where he was responsible for the 3P’s (power/performance/price) in manufacturing high-volume products at sub-lithographic 20nm scales. Seng holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from UC Berkeley and a BS in Computer Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Peter Miller

Peter Miller Leads the Linus Health technology team. He started his professional career at MIT Lincoln Labs. Since then, he has worked at PatientKeeper, Intuit, Constant Contact, and Walters Kluwer. Peter has extensive experience leading healthcare and customer-facing technology teams. At Linus Health, he leads an exceptional group of talented engineers who are designing, building, and delivering world-class digital cognitive assessment solutions. Peter earned his BS and MS from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

Vice President of People
Anna Corfey is the Vice President of People at Linus Health, where she oversees the People Ops, Talent Acquisition and Office Management teams. Anna has spent her 25 year career scaling companies for operational excellence, increasing team engagement and driving people related initiatives. She has served as the head of HR in numerous positions in both biotech and software companies. Anna has extensive experience as a strategic partner driving transformation growth to successful outcomes. Anna holds a Business Degree with a Minor in Human Resources.

James Kuan, JD

General Counsel
James is General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer at Linus Health where he manages the legal and compliance functions to enable its ambitious growth strategies in digital health while remaining compliant with all regulatory constraints. This includes the negotiation of all transactional agreements, corporate development/M&A, venture financing, IP licensing/strategy, litigation management, employment/HR, compliance, privacy and corporate governance. Prior to Linus, James has served as counsel advising various public and privately held companies in IOT, SaaS, medical device, controls, and VC adroitly leading a number of companies through strategic exits, acquisitions and expansion. James earned a B.A. in economics and J.D. in law at the University of Washington in Seattle, WA. He has three energetic children he is raising with his wife, Doris, and enjoys volunteering his time as a nonprofit youth group board member serving 1000 students, varsity basketball coach, and high school speech and debate teacher.
